1. The Embassy of Japan in India, under its scheme ‘Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects’, today decided to extend grant assistance totaling US$70,702 (approximately equivalent to Nu. 31 lacs) to HAA DZONGKHG, Bhutan, to support reconstruction of rural infrastructure project. The recipient and the project receiving the Grant is as follows:
Haa Dzongkhg suffered serious damage from the cyclone that happened in May 2009. Japan will support reconstruction of two bridges, Chumpa and Girina, which were washed away by the cyclone. The Embassy of Japan has decided to grant a sum of US$70,702 for the project.
2. The Signing Ceremony to formalize the arrangements was conducted on Monday, 7th December, 2009, at the Embassy of Japan, between H.E. Mr. Hideaki DOMICHI, Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan and Mr. Kinga Singye, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Royal Bhutanese Embassy.
